Cosmetic Dentistry
With dentistry's many advances, patients no longer have to settle for
stained, chipped, or misshapen teeth. You now have choices that can help
you achieve the smile you have always wanted. Tooth whitening (Bleaching)
brightens teeth that are discolored or stained. Bleaching may be done
completely in the dental office (Zoom) or a system for you to use at home
(Opalesence). Bonding can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped,
broken, cracked, stained, or have spaces between them. With bonding, tooth-colored
materials are applied, or bonded, to the tooth surface. Veneers are thin
custom-made shells designed to cover the front side of teeth. Made of
tooth-colored materials, veneers are used to treat spaces between teeth
and teeth that are chipped or worn, permanently stained, poorly shaped
or slightly crooked. Cosmetic crowns may be needed if the change desired
is extensive. Braces are not just for kids. Orthodontics may

be needed
if teeth are crooked, crowded or do not meet properly.
Bad Breath
( Halitosis ) Treatment
Certain foods contribute to bad breath. If you don’t brush
and floss daily, particles of food can remain in the mouth ( on
the tongue, in between the teeth, etc). These food particles collect
bacteria, which then can cause a bad odor. back

Other causes can be a dry mouth, tobacco products and certain medical
conditions. We can treat bad breath. We offer two options. The Breath
Rx system contains a toothpaste, a tongue spray and cleaner, and
a mouth rinse. Another option is Trichlor, which is a rinse you
use twice a day. |

Crowns
Crowns (also known as caps) cover a tooth that has been weakened
by a large filling or possibly a fracture. Crowns help strengthen
teeth and improve the appearance of a tooth. A crown is an
excellent way to improve the position, shape or color of a tooth.

Missing
Teeth
Unfortunately sometimes a tooth cannot be restored by the dentist.
When this happens the patient has options to replace the missing
tooth or teeth. A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial
teeth, looks great, and bridges the gap where one or more teeth
have been. Afixed bridge can only be removed by a dentist. For some
people, dental implants offer a smile that feels and looks very
natural. Implants are placed by a surgeon below the gums and then
fuse to the bone. They serve as a base for individual teeth, bridges
or a denture. back

Periodontal
Disease
Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissues that support
your teeth. Periodontal diseases are classified according to the
severity of the disease. The two major stages are gingivitis and
periodontitis. Gingivitis is a milder and reversible form of periodontal
disease that only affects the gums. Gingivitis may lead to more
serious, destructive forms of periodontal disease called periodontitis.
It is possible to have periodontal disease and have no warning signs.
That is one reason why regular dental checkups and periodontal examinations
are very important. Some patients will only a professional cleaning
and some instruction on how to better care for their teeth and gums
at home. However for some that will not be enough. Periodontal disease
needs to be treated differently which can include a deeper cleaning
and possibly antibiotic therapy, Arestin. back
